  1. People in Japan are having to adapt, modify and depend on their environment so much because of the terrible tsunami that occured. One issue that they are having is that their neuclear reactor was on during the earth quake. It was unattended which meant that the fule ran low. People are having to adapt to this because there is a lot of radiation in the air and that is very bad to breath in so people are having to wear face masks and do other things to prevent them from breathing in this toxic chemical. The way people in Japan are modifying their country is that they are trying to fix and clean up their country. The way thease people in Japan are dependent on their country is because this is their home and they live here which means that if their house is destroyed they have no where to live.

  2. The People in Haiti have to adapt to the new environment caused by a natural disaster. The People where living in Haiti and new the area around them now the environment has changed. The people are not fumier with the new changes. If the people are going to live they are going to have to adapt to their surroundings. Food will be a daily struggle and so will water. The people will have to change their living still. Also, the people that live here depend on this land to support them, which will also change.

  3. Throughout the entire Middle East, people are making a great attempt to modify. They are mostly trying to modify their governmental structures of the countries that they live in.

Libya has recently been in the news very frequently. The leader, Muammar el-Qaddafi, has reacted to this and trying to modify his country's people and their opinions. On both ends, it is a struggle for modification.

  4. Nathan, remember we are focusing on how people modify their physical environment. Will you revise or repost your answer to reflect this concept?

  6. My apologies, I didn't catch the physical part of that.

An article I found on CNN Travel, titled Libya crisis sends U.S. gas prices up 33 cents in two weeks, proves our dependency on oil. Obviously, oil is part of the environment. This article faces us with the fact that even the slightest fluctuation of oil has a major effect on our every day lives. No, the oil price modifications were not caused by the environment; it was caused by the Libyan war. However, environmentally caused or not, we still need our oil, and we still need our environment.

  7. As a country we the Americas are starting many relief efforts to help the many people in Japan during this hard time. Right now there are many well organized donation groups such as the text relief effort also used for the haiti relief funds. This organization is very popular, because of the fact that you can text to donate $10. Other popular organizations are the many food drives for the people who are hungry and thirsty from being trapped or lost. Japan is still trying to adapt to the earhtquake that hit last Friday but after they start to adapt other smaller earthquakes hit. Japan has been hit by at least 4 other earthquakes with a magnitude of at least 4.5. http://www.indystar.com/article/20110317/LOCAL/103170459/Japan-donation-drive-Friday-City-Market

  8. Japan is being greatly affected by nuclear power radiation but also it is going into the Pacific Ocean. The US is scared that it might affect health issues here but Obama says that won’t be a problem. In Japan they have to adapt, modify and depend on their environment. Since radiation is in the air it’s causing respiratory problems, heart problems it like burning your insides out. Think about walking outside and knowing that the air you breathe is not healthy for you and you could eventually die, that’s depending on the environment around us. It’s sad knowing that pregnant women will have birth defects of their babies because of the radiation and the elderly will not live as long as they would of. Many people in Japan are being affected because of where they live and the environment around them.

Cairo, Egypt proudly streams to the polls to vote on constitutional amendments. This is the first election in decades and an estimated 45 million Egyptians are eligible to vote. "I am very very happy," said Mohamed El Hourushy, a 19-year-old political science student. "This is something I've been fighting for all my life. I didn't think I would live to see this scene." This is an example of adapting. Mohamed has been fighting his whole life for his dream and now he has finally got it. Therefore, he has to adapt to the new democratic enviroment with everyone else wanting to vote and the new laws that will be applied to Egypt.

"I honestly passed by many polling stations and they were all filled with people awaiting to make their decision. It is our duty to accept whatever they decide," Moussa said. Moussa is depending on himself and the rest of the voters to make a good decision on there new political environment.

    1. Andrew, I was reading your writing prompt and I am Egyptian so I know what you mean. My father lived in Cairo, Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood is there elected president, and they must adapt onto that. Also, you may have heard of a story where several weeks ago, This one town was being invaded by Muslims, the Christians/Catholics were living there. The police told them to leave and come back when it was safe to return. When the people returned to their houses, everything from every house had been stolen. Even electrical appliances, part of walls, carpeting, annd other things were taken by the Muslims that invaded that area. The Christians/Catholics had to depend on the police for saftey, yet failed. What category do you think this story falls into? Also, I am Christian. This story is true, as my grandfather saw it with his own eyes. I have thousands and thousands of family members over there with my last name. Soliman. Not Solomon or Salmon. My name is Katherine A. Soliman. Also, I have a fun fact for you people out there who are curious. My father owns a factory and stores over there. I have his first name as my middle name so when he dies, i inherit that. We are all going through a tough time. Cairo is a huge memory of mine, and it was so sad to see it being destroyed. Also, just ecause use, middle-easterns are middle-easterns, does not mean we are all that way. In New York, people gave my family a tough time because of 9/11. When I went to donate blood for the injured, they didn't take it. The people were so infuriated they didn't take our blood because of my middle-easternes ( haha ). As my 6th grade teacher Mr.Flayhan once said " do not judge people by their face, for as the face may be the same as the evil, that does not mean that face identifies evil. You cannot identify evil and good by color or religon, evil and good comes from the soul. "

  12. Right now, as we speak the people of japan are having to adapt t a new life style because of the tsunami and the earthquake that hit about a week ago. Many of them have lost family members, friends, and their hoes. They are learning how to adapt to these new conditions, they have to figure out a spot that they could live in for the time being. Also, they are having to adapt to their new food supply because it is very scarce there also is not much water, which is why they had to use the ocean water to cool down the nuclear power plants/ reactors. In conclusions, japan has been going through some tough times and have been learning how to adapt to these changes.

  13. Japan right now is suffering from the earthquake and tsunami that hit a few weeks ago. They have to adapt to their new environment, which is mostly just flooded land. Since some of their homes are destroyed, they have to go find a new place to live. They also need to adapt to the food and water supply that they now have. Japan probably doesn't have a lot of food and clean water because of the flood. So they will have to find new food and water supply. Japan has been going through the suffering from the results of the earthquake and tsunami and they have to adapt to their new environment.

  14. The article talks about the after effects of the earthquakes in Japan. People are modifying their lives to stay safe. Cruise lines are changing routes to avoid dangerous waves and the people who lived in Japan are moving to places such as Guam to live. All over the world people are canceling trips and flights, trying to stay safe.

  16. When talking about people that are adapting, modifying and deppending on the physical inviorment there is no better example than thepeople in Japan dealing with the tusunam and earthquack. These people have to depend and and modify there surroundings. From making makeshift rafts to depending on rescue crews to find loved ones traped by the colapsing buildings. these people have had to adapted to the new living conditions in there temperary homes that they have been avacuated to. These are examples of modern adapting, modifying and depending.

  17. People all around the world are having to adapt, modify, or depend on their environment, a opportune example of this is Japan. The disaster in Japan has made many citizens have to adapt to their environment. The citizens of Japan have to be ready for bad news to come about loved ones in case of their death. The Japanese have to adapt so as to be ready to move out of their homes and possibly evacuate their country as well as to be ready for bad news at any time. Many Japanese are still hoping for the best although numerous death reports come in all the time, each time the Japanese have to prepare themselves for the worst even though many still hope for the best.

  18. Adapting modifying and being depended on changes is natural for not only humans but for every living thing on the earth. Humans adapt to changes in their daily lives to changes in climate they will take there time to get adjusted to the changes, they will modify to changes like a road being out they will modify it so they can get to work, school, etc. But things they cant change and are depended on like food, water, air, etc these are things in their daily lives that they cant live without dieing so they are totally depended on them

We modify the air. The smoke from cigarettes, cars, and fossil fuels create the smog in London and poor air quality all around.

  20. Libya has a war going on. people have to adapt to which ever side is controlling their city. If they are a part of the "Yankee" side and their city gets captured by the rebel side, they might have to change their life style to fit that of the rebel army. They adapt to the lifestyle of the war. After the war they might have to adapt to whoever won the war.

  21. People have to adapt, modify, or depend on their environment no matter where they live. A good example is Japan. They are having to adapt to their environment after the earthquake which caused the tsunami. They also have to adapt to the radiation that is spilling out of nuclear power plants. Many buildings have been destroyed. Including many families houses. They have to adapt by finding a new place to live and a new job to support their family. This is an example of how people have to modify to their environment.

  22. The people in Japan are having to adapt, modify, and are depending on their environment since the horrible tsunami. The Japanese are adapting to not being able to have electricity, clean water, good source of food, and not having clean air to breathe from the radiation. Since the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant has been hit by the tsunami their has been a scare for a nuclear disaster and have been exposed to radiation. Also most of Japan are with out electricity because all they power lines were washed away so now they have to find new ways to have light. They are now modifying their county by cleaning up the waste, wearing mask to keep from breathing the radiation, and finding and rescuing people. The Japanese are now depending on their environment not to have a second earth quake.

  23. After the earth quake, Japan adapts, modifies, and depends. Japan has modifies in the destruction because since the government encourages people to move somewhere else if they live in a radioactive area. Japan citizens adapt when they move back into their houses after the evacuation. They try to rebuild their houses to make things better for their families. Japan depends on it's resources because it needs to make money from it's crops to rebuild it's cities, which should take five years if it can improve its economic situation.

  28. Everyone in Japan have to adapt, modify, and depend on there enviornment so that they can survive after the earthquake hit. The Japanese have to adapt to there environment because everything is going wrong in there country and they can't really do anything about it, so they have to adapt to it. Also many people have already lost there homes and some have to try and find a place to live so that they can survive. Many people have already donated a bunch of money to Japan so that they can build houses and get food. Everyone wants people in Japan to survive, and I hope for the best there!

  29. As we are all familiar with, Japan is getting nailed with natural disasters. The Japanese adapt to what has happened to their country, but mostly modify. The only way they adapt is they're starting to move back, so they are just getting used to what has happened. They could be building stronger houses, and create things that could help them not get affected so hard next time. But the people of Japan have modified by moving and evacuating there country. When modifying, you change yourself to make things better. That's what everyone in Japan did. Now, you can tell how Japan depends on their environment because they got so affected by the earthquake. I think that Japan will need to depend on their environment so they are able to make money to be back where they were in the first place.
